Melvin Lyons or Mel to most, welcomes you to this site.

I have several domains and this site is meant to bring all my sites under one roof, so to speak. These sites of mine are a series that reflect my interests.
As for me, I am an Old Age Pensioner in the UK or more politically correct (and we must all be PC) in the USA, I would be a "senior".
I think I am a little more than a "silver surfer" as I do more than surf the internet, my interest goes a lot deeper than that.
Now that I am retired and in my 7th decade, I greatly enjoy being involved in web making and connected projects.
My interest started when I bought my son his first computer when he was two years old in 1982, which of course was at the beginning of the computer age.
I can't remember if it was a Sinclair or a Commodore but remember writing little programmes in Basic and saving data on an ordinary cassette.
I enjoyed making little programmes that would "speak" to my son, Adam.

After the initial games of ping-pong tennis came Space Invader type games. While Adam was still very young, I had no difficulty beating him. It was only a year or two later that Adam would start beating me and as soon as he could, I lost interest in playing, knowing that I would be beat every time we played.

These talents of Adam proved to be a big asset when he started playing video games in later life and he even secured a job as a games expert on a Sky TV show called Gamezville and later went on to be the show's Marketing Manager.

In 2002, I was forced into bankruptcy and learned a lot about debt. I now run a
site which advises people in debt and offers free advice and some solutions to debt management.

My other son, Sir Terry Lyons lives in South Africa. He can be seen
here receiving an award from the King of Swaziland, for 25 years service to King and Country.

Unfortunately debt and gambling often go hand in hand. My first job on leaving school, where I was brilliant at maths, was to join the family betting office. In those days, the 50s these were known as SP offices as actual betting shops were not yet legal and cash betting was illegal. My one and only criminal offence was at this time when our office was raided by the police when we had cash punters gambling there. Weirdly, all bets had to be on credit.
I later went on to be a croupier in the Playboy Casino in London's posh area of Park Lane. Blackjack was my speciality. There are some good tips on playing the game of Blackjack and putting the odds in your favour at
lyonsgaming.com

One other site I have is being an affiliate to the top Travel companies;
Lyons of London. I love travel and have been to many lands. Some trips were to see family. My eldest son lives in South Africa and I have two sisters living in Canada. I must say that I enjoyed the warmth of SA to the cold of Canada. My holidays are nearly always spent in countries where I would usually find the sun. Spain of course is the nearest such country and I have spent many a trip on the Costas or the Balearics and Canary islands.

Now to my only big sin; or is it? It is more than that it is a real passion and pleasure to me although irksome to others. It is the enjoyment of a fine cigar. In my eyes, or tastes more appropriate, the only cigar is a Cuban. The soil on Cuba is renowned to be the best for tobacco growing and along with the perfect temperature and humidity, cigars from Cuba are quite rightly known as the best cigars money can buy. I have put together some facts for anyone new to cigar smoking or would like to know more about genuine Havana cigars or Habanos as they are known in Spanish.
